At Margaret Willis Elementary School, we are committed to making a positive difference in the lives of our students and their families.  We believe that every student deserves the opportunity to achieve high academic growth and that our purpose is to help our students be productive citizens in an increasingly interconnected world. Margaret Willis is a GREAT school. We have been an NC School of High Growth for the past 7 years.  Margaret Willis is the place to be if you want to excel academically.  However, we are known for more than our student achievement.

Margaret Willis Elementary is a developing ground for future leaders.  Both our, Principal and Assistant Principal are enrolled in doctoral programs. Our new principal has a list of accomplishments that expands from Cumberland County to Chesterfield County, Richmond, Virginia. She was awarded Teacher of the year and Elementary Assistant Principal of the year in Cumberland County. She was also awarded the Chesterfield County, Richmond Virginia Principal of Distinction Endorsement in 2010. Our Assistant Principal was awarded the Cumberland County Elementary Assistant Principal of the Year Award in 2014 and the Lead Success Person of the Year 2015-16.

Though our building is “seasoned,” it is well-kept and welcoming.  We were named the Custodial School of the Year for 2012 and our cafeteria staff was recognized as the Elementary Cafeteria of the Year for 2014.We have a caring and collegial staff that bring a variety of experiences to our students.  Several of our staff members have been recognized for outstanding achievement in their field: Ms. Pat Gill, our Data Manager was named Elementary Data Manager of the Year and Mr. Frank Nelson is the Margaret Willis Teacher of the Year.  We are proud of the accomplishments of our staff.

At Margaret Willis, success is the expectation and SUCCESS IS THE TRADITION!  We are a Positive Behavior Intervention and Support School and we have been awarded the PBIS School of Excellence Award.  We operate under the guidelines of our ROAR belief system.  We are Respectful, we are Orderly, we have a positive Attitude, and we are Responsible.  Margaret Willis is a certified GREEN School and we believe that our students are the gatekeepers of our natural resources.  We teach and practice conservation at Willis.  It is never too early to learn to take care of our environment. Our school building is 58 years old, and we cherish our rich history in Fayetteville.

We appreciate the support we receive from First Fruits Family Ministry, Hay Street United Methodist ChurchHoly Trinity Episcopal Church, McDonald’s Restaurant on Bragg Boulevard, Snyder Memorial Baptist Church, and Stedman PH Church.  These Community Partners have helped us provide needed support to our students and their families.

Please visit the NCDPI website and take a look at our School Report Card.  We are committed to continuous learning at Willis, and we believe that our purpose is to make a positive impact in the lives of our students and their families. Our students say it best, “At Margaret Willis, we are safe, we are kind, we learn, and we have fun!”  Please call or come by for a visit. Our doors are always open.
